It seems like every day brings another data breach, malware or phishing attack \u2013 leading one to believe that the Internet has eyes and nothing is safe there \u2013 especially not your bank account or online storefront.<\/p>\n<p>Cyber criminals and virtual thieves go to extreme lengths to get into your online pockets: phishing sites, fake banking sites that look real, tools to log your keystrokes on your keyboard, SMS hijacking for one-time passwords and more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2015\/10\/22145205\/safe-money-settings-FB-1024x1024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10326 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2015\/10\/22145205\/safe-money-settings-FB-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Protect your banking transactions online\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1600\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Of course, this dreadful situation could be remedied by taking some simple precautions, like shopping at only trusted online merchants, using web-banking tools fortified by two-factor authentication, or never telling anyone the account number or your payment card PIN. However, even the most careful users might discover one day that their money is gone, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaspersky.com\/blog\/bank-cards-hidden-risks\/7570\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">cybercriminal nowadays are cunning and savvy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You could also resort to another option \u2013 completely refusing to shop or bank online. Then, go to your preferred web banking or payment system site like PayPal or Citibank. You will then get the following message:<a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2015\/10\/05084936\/safe-money-en-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10327 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2015\/10\/05084936\/safe-money-en-1.png\" alt=\"Protect your banking transactions online\" width=\"665\" height=\"324\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once you click on <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>Open in Protected Browser,<\/strong><strong>\u201c<\/strong> the intended page will open in a new window framed with a green border:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2015\/10\/05084934\/safe-money-en-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10328 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2015\/10\/05084934\/safe-money-en-2.png\" alt=\"Protect your banking transactions online\" width=\"800\" height=\"584\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If this frame is not green but yellow, use tips in the lower right corner or recommendations from <a href=\"http:\/\/support.kaspersky.com\/kis2016\/safemoney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Safe Money section<\/a> in our knowledge base.<\/p>\n<p>Using this method, check all sites where you have to input confidential data: if some of them would not open in a secure mode (i.e. green-framed), add them to the Safe Money list manually. To do this, double-click on the Safe Money shortcut on the desktop. This window would then open:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2015\/10\/05084934\/safe-money-en-31.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10337 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2015\/10\/22145227\/safe-money-en-31-1.png\" alt=\"Protect your banking transactions online\" width=\"772\" height=\"575\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here you can use <strong>On-Screen Keyboard<\/strong> to input the data securely or jump to the designated entry on Safe Money in our Knowledge Base.<\/p>\n<p>When clicking <strong>Add website to Safe Money<\/strong>, a form will open on the right:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2015\/10\/22145141\/safe-money-en-41.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10339 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2015\/10\/22145236\/safe-money-en-41-1.png\" alt=\"Protect your banking transactions online\" width=\"772\" height=\"575\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Should you want this website to open in the Secure Mode, choose the <strong>Run Protected Browser<\/strong> option. Or, if you for some reasons want the site not to be opened in the Secure Mode, use the reverse option: check the <strong>Do not Run Protected Browser<\/strong> button.
