In this post we highlight ten amazing robots that either serve humanity right now or are getting ready to.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14733 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/media.kasperskydaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/36\/2017\/04\/05090421\/robort-at-work-a-1.jpg\" alt=\"Will robots take our jobs?\" width=\"1460\" height=\"960\"><\/p>\n<h2>Top 10 robots ready to take over \u2014 or close to it<\/h2>\n<h3>Robotic surgeon<\/h3>\n<p>Since its launch in 2000, the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.davincisurgery.com\/da-vinci-colorectal\/da-vinci-colectomy.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">da Vinci robotic surgeon<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>has helped more than 3 million patients worldwide. Developers explain that the surgical device is 100% under the surgeon\u2019s control and gives surgeons a 3D HD view inside of a patient\u2019s body. The robot uses tiny, wristed instruments that bend and rotate, and it provides enhanced vision, precision, and control.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0XdC1HUp-rU?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Robotic cook<\/h3>\n<p>Not a single robot but a fully equipped kitchen system, the robot kitchen has two impressive robotic hands to mix ingredients and pound chicken. It also uses a<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/moley-to-present-the-worlds-first-robot-kitchen-in-2017-2015-11\/%252523this-means-the-robotic-hands-will-even-have-natural-pauses-while-cooking-because-its-replicating-a-human-former-masterchef-tim-anderson-was-filmed-for-a-demonstration-who-you-can-see-cooking-below-4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">food processor<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/a>instead of knives \u2014 not everyone is ready to have a knife-wielding robot in their home.<\/p>\n<p>Ads promise that the robotic kitchen cooks just like a human \u2014 \u201cwith the same speed, sensitivity, and movement.\u201d To ensure this, developers recorded the movements of Tim Anderson, winner of BBC\u2019s Master Chef title, and taught the kitchen to repeat his \u201cevery motion, nuance, and flourish.\u201d The consumer version of the kitchen is set for launch in 2018.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BSBTCOEdLkA?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Roboshepherd<\/h3>\n<p>This cyber cowboy is still under development, but the latest tests look promising: SwagBot herds animal, carries things, and looks after crops entirely on its own. The robotic shepherd was designed by University of Sydney researchers and the Australian Centre for Field Robotics<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/qz.com\/744314\/even-sheepdogs-arent-safe-a-new-robot-can-herd-animals-on-its-own\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">to help ranchers in some of Australia\u2019s remote areas<\/a>, where towns and neighbors are hours apart.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3laK7zdqceA?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>During field tests, cows were naturally afraid of their new shepherd, so let\u2019s hope that with time animals will get accustomed to robotic cowboys.<\/p>\n<h3>Cyberfarmers<\/h3>\n<p>A number of robotic farmers are under development worldwide. For example,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/farmbot.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the open-source FarmBot<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>is meant to take care of your backyard. The software is free, but you\u2019ll have to pay for the hardware (or find the parts). But isn\u2019t it worth it to be able to say you have a do-it-yourself robo-farmer in your backyard?<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zXplJ3Cb2pQ?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Here is a prototype of industrial robotic farming system called AgBot; this solution is designed to fight weeds. It is equipped with cameras and sensors and armed with smart software to work in autonomous groups. The robots work together to inspect, find, and classify weeds. The AgBot can manage detected weeds \u201ceither chemically or mechanically, as well as apply fertilizer for site-specific crop management.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/15tovWSnJe0?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Warehouse worker robot<\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s no surprise that technological giants use robots in their warehouses. For example, in 2015, Chinese company<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.techrepublic.com\/article\/chinese-factory-replaces-90-of-humans-with-robots-production-soars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Everwin Precision Technology replaced 90% of its workers with robots<\/a>. Apple and Samsung supplier<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/technology-36376966\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Foxconn also replaced 60,000 employees with robots.<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/stevebanker\/2016\/01\/11\/robots-in-the-warehouse-its-not-just-amazon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Amazon already uses more than 30,000 former Kiva robots<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>in their facilities, and it is<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.extremetech.com\/extreme\/231171-amazon-robots-close-to-replacing-the-rest-of-warehouse-workers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">going to continue adding even more smart machines.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lWsMdN7HMuA?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Warehouse work may be the most influenced by the automation process nowadays, but warehouse workers don\u2019t need to panic just yet:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/amazon.force.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Amazon is still hiring<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Drone courier<\/h3>\n<p>You can\u2019t argue that Amazon likes robots. That\u2019s why they want drones in their delivery service \u2014 and it\u2019s not the worst idea. Just imagine sitting outside in the morning, drinking coffee, greeting the day, and accepting a package from a flying drone. We\u2019ve already heard about<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HJk_2HPoTEE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">pizza drone delivery<\/a>. UPS has its own plan for delivery drones:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2017\/2\/21\/14691062\/ups-drone-delivery-truck-test-completed-video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">to carry them inside trucks and launch them at various points along their route<\/a>. However, drone law regulations are quite strict in many countries, so we may not see robo-deliveries for a while.<\/p>\n<h3>AI journalist<\/h3>\n<p>While hardware robots can\u2019t yet supply us with pizza, their software brothers are getting ready to deliver news to humanity. The natural-language-generation software called Quill developed by<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.narrativescience.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Narrative Science<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>is trained to write news stories. And the articles are<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.technologyreview.com\/s\/533976\/robot-journalist-finds-new-work-on-wall-street\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">pretty readable<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe energy sector was the main contributor to relative performance, led by stock selection in energy equipment and services companies. In terms of individual contributors, a position in energy equipment and services company Oceaneering International was the largest contributor to returns. Stock selection also contributed to relative results in the health care sector. This is exactly what happened in the University of Missouri Kansas City library. Implementing a robotic librarian saved the university a ton of space. Standing 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) tall and 0.9 meters (3 feet) wide, the K5 robot is equipped with GPS, lasers, sensors, and cameras, which help the robot to avoid obstacles and monitor surroundings. K5 is already serving society in various places:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/fusion.net\/uber-hired-a-robot-to-patrol-its-parking-lot-and-its-wa-1793859990\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">guarding one of Uber\u2019s car inspection lots in San Francisco<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>and searching for known shoplifters at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, California.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/P71Pz9ELNYQ?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/technology\/2016\/07\/13\/robot-security-guard-knocks-over-toddler-at-shopping-centre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">robotic guards are still imperfect.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Robotic soldier<\/h3>\n<p>The military has always been at the cutting edge of technology, so naturally, we find the armed forces develping robotic means to patrol, defend, and attack. We\u2019ve already reported on robots that<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaspersky.com\/blog\/maritime-drones-deployment\/8469\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">clear mines from the ocean floor or guard sea borders.<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>There are also<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/2011\/02\/theres-no-hiding-from-new-breath-detecting-robot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">robots that can detect frightened breathing even though a wall<\/a>, and<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.popsci.com\/army-wants-robot-medics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">robots that can evacuate wounded soldiers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here are interesting insectoid robots that look like small bees designed to spy or carry out reconnaissance.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hEZ7rHRifVc?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;fs=1&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;wmode=transparent\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s safe to say major developments are being kept top secret, but we did find a cool video of a robotic army dog designed to accompany soldiers and carry supplies on rough country routes. Headlines spread the news further, fueling concerns about job security. Other researchers<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.afr.com\/business\/robots-not-taking-jobs-economist-busts-automation-myths-20161110-gsmo3j\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">question the inevitability of an \u201cautomation bomb,\u201d<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>saying<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/01\/12\/technology\/robots-will-take-jobs-but-not-as-fast-as-some-fear-new-report-says.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">it\u2019s not going to happen in the near future<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>and that when it finally does,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2015\/06\/robots-seem-to-be-improving-productivity-not-costing-jobs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">robots will create new<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2016\/05\/13\/robots-wont-just-take-jobs-theyll-create-them\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">high-skilled jobs<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>to fill the gap.<\/p>\n<p>Sooner or later, even more machines will come into our lives. We\u2019ll have to wait and see which jobs will become extinct because they will be performed by robots. And who knows, maybe thanks to machines doing hard work, our kids will all be able to pursue whatever they want, and become astronauts, artists, travelers, or some<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaspersky.com\/blog\/21-cool-future-jobs\/12813\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">new, not-yet-invented professions<\/a>.
